The all weather Arranmore RNLI volunteer crew responded to three calls to help with medical evacuations from the island on Friday evening October 20, again on Monday morning October 23 and a further call yesterday Tuesday 24.
Patients requiring medical assessment are transported by lifeboat to Burtonport where they are met by ambulance for transfer to Letterkenny University Hospital.
Arranmore RNLI coxswain Jimmy Early said: “We are really pleased to be able to provide this vital service to the community, our colleagues in the Coast Guard also assist in medical evacuations and this is an invaluable service to the people of Arranmore and the surrounding islands who are in need of medical assistance”.
