LOCAL car dealers and gymnasiums will not quite be pushing the boat out next month in efforts to raise funds for the Relay for Life initiative.
But strong arm tactics will be required as the representatives of the gyms will attempt to push a selection of high powered vehicles supplied by the motoring trade over a 5k route in Letterkenny.
It will be highly competitive and compelling as the respective garages and gyms team up to try and claim the title won by Donaghy Motor Homes back in 2017.

“That was the last time this international car push event was held and it was a roaring success,” says this year’s chief organiser, Robert O’Connor.
Donaghys won’t be there to defend their crown this time out so the title is there for the taking. The big difference between the 2017 event is that only the garages took part then – now the gym representatives will add their undoubted strength and power to the proceedings.

Between eight to ten gyms are set to participate in the event that will get underway at Divers Hyundai outlet on the Canal Road at 7.p.m. on Wednesday, May 21.
Local celebrities will also be getting behind the steering wheels on the evening and the first announced this week is Highland Radio presenter, John Breslin. More to follow….

“It should be a great evening, not just as a fund raiser for Relay but also for the craic,” Robert declares.
The event was officially launched in the grounds of the Mount Errigal Hotel last Friday morning with representatives from Relay for Life joined by the competing teams for a photo shoot.
Not taking part in the event was the Churchill mini-bus on standby ready to take a hen party on the first leg of their weekend trip to Manchester.
But the car push participants were preparing for a much shorter, though a lot more strenuous, trek……!
