Scoil Náisiúnta an Bhreacaigh in Ardara has been given permission to proceed to the tender stage with its plans for an extension.
The school received the green light to build a special class for children with special education needs, a soft/hard play area, a sensory garden and six parking spaces under the Department of Education’s Additional School Accommodation Scheme.
Welcoming the announcement, Donegal minister, Charlie McConalogue said: “This is great news for Scoil Náisiúnta an Bhreacaigh and for the town of Ardara. I’m aware of the work that has been done by the school staff and the board of management to get the project to this stage and I commend all involved for their efforts.
“I’d also like to acknowledge the work of my Fianna Fáil party colleague, Cllr Anthony Molloy, and the Minister for Education, Norma Foley, and her team for their assistance.
“This new extension will make a massive difference to the school, and I look forward to the project moving to the construction stage and being completed as soon as possible,” the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine added.
