ARDARA minor manager Adrian Brennan is expecting a tough battle when his side face Dungloe in the Division Two Championship Final this Friday night.
Ardara competed in Division 1 of the league this term and were involved in some challenging encounters against Aodh Ruadh, Four Masters and Naomh Conaill which may have helped them to become battle hardened ahead of the Championship.
The Pearse Memorial Park residents are unbeaten to date in their Division 2 campaign, coming out on top in all six of their contests which the Ardara boss is pleased with.
“We’re pleased. We went through the Championship and we’ve had a few tough games along the way but it’s just good to get over the line.”
“Getting to the final was the main objective for us and we’re there now so we’re looking forward to the game on Friday. It’ll be a tough battle I’d say but we’re looking forward to it.”
Following a 100 percent record in their Championship group, Ardara progressed to the last four of the competition where they faced Termon.
The meeting with the Burn Road outfit was a repeat of last year’s Division Two Final and Brennan’s men recorded a convincing win over them last Wednesday in Convoy.
The Ardara boss was delighted with the performance that he got from his side on that night however, he expressed that it’s now parked as they look ahead to this Friday’s Division Two decider.
“We were lucky to get off to a good start. It was a night that we probably played well and got balls over the bar, there’s some games that you’d be playing and have a lot of possession but not get the scores.”
“We got the scores on the board early on and probably made it difficult for Termon in the second half. They were probably playing catch-up but I was happy with the way we played.”
“The boys put in a big performance in a semi-final so we’re delighted. You park that now, in terms of going into a final it’s a different challenge for us now against Dungloe.”
Brennan’s men enter this Friday’s showpiece as the reigning champions, having won the title against Termon 12 months ago.
However, they’ve a stern test ahead of them if they are to defend their crown in the form of Dungloe.
The Rosses Park residents won the Division Two League title earlier in the year and will be eyeing up a double with a win this on Friday.
The Ardara boss is aware of the challenge that Dungloe will provide in the final but he’s hoping that his outfit can put in another performance and cap their campaign off with silverware.
“Dungloe are a really competitive team, I’ve seen them play a couple of times this year and we played them earlier in the year. They’re a really tough team.”
“We’re under no illusions that it’s going to be a tough battle on Friday night. We’re expecting nothing else from Dungloe, they’ll be throwing everything that they have at it and that’s in their DNA. It doesn’t matter if it’s the first round of the Championship or a final, we’d be expecting a tough battle from Dungloe. Hopefully we’ll be ready for it and hopefully we’ll get the result on Friday night.”
