MANY parts of Donegal awoke to a blanket of snow this morning and there has been widespread disruption with school closures, cancellations and extremely dangerous driving conditions right across the county.
Many people have chosen not to travel to work this morning with conditions in some areas reported to have worsened since early morning.
Those who are taking to the roads are urged to allow extra time for their journeys.
A lot of people who did attempt to travel were forced to turn back and abandon their journeys.
Donegal County Council’s gritting service has treated selected routes, but many roads are reported to be extremely dangerous.
Met Éireann has issued a status yellow warning for snow which is in place until 11am.
There are snow and ice warnings in place across the north west, including for Derry and Tyrone.
