THE AranMojo festival, which is back on the island of Arranmore for the second year in a row, was officially launched at the Greenroom Live in Letterkenny last week.
The brainchild of popular South West Donegal band Mojo Gogo and well-known Arranmore businessman Jerry Early, AranMojo takes place from August 16-18.
The line-up was officially announced two months ago and on Wednesday night, some of the bands, including the headliners Mojo Gogo performed sets at the Letterkenny venue, As well as the main stage at Early’s, the festival sees a new addition in an intimate outdoor tent which will play host to Goof’s Gaff.
Goof’s Gaff is a popular Letterkenny-based YouTube channel which aims to promote music in the North West, some of which will be performing in the Goof’s Gaff Tent.
The weekend begins on Friday night, August 16, with The Kinky Wizards Reunion Show at Early’s. Saturday, August 17, will be the main day of the festival.
The acts peforming on Main Stage at Early’s are Mojo Gogo, In Their Thousands, Mark Black and The Trips, Color//Sound and The Capitol. The after party will be hosted by SO’ALTY. On Saturday the Goof’s Gaff Tent will also host Gary Lutton, Simon McCafferty, Paul Tully, McBeth Sisters, Riaghan O’Callaghan and Ry65. Sunday’s line-up is a big surprise.
There are plenty of affordable hostels and B&Bs on the beautiful Island of Arranmore and all are within walking distance to the venue and the official campsite.
Looking forward to the festival, the organisers have also sent out a strong message ahead of people visiting the island of Arranmore.
“The good folks of Arranmore are kind enough to let us hold our festival there. So please, be careful, have fun and treat the island with the respect it deserves.”
This year there will be no tickets sold for the festival. Instead you will be able to purchase an official AranMojo wristband at one the festival’s associated outlets throughout Donegal.
There will be only 200 wristbands for sale and will be sold on a ‘First Come, First Serve’ basis, so to avoid disappointment purchase yours as soon as possible.
