Applications open for disability fund

Letterkenny councillor Jimmy Kavanagh has welcomed the opening of applications for the 2024 Disability Participation and Awareness Fund.

With ‘The Centre of Independent Living’ and the ‘No Barriers Foundation’ previously being recipients of the Fund, Cllr Kavanagh hopes Donegal will benefit this year again.

“The Fund is a great opportunity for local non-profit organisations in the community to help increase awareness around disability and to allow for participation for people with a disability across community life in the arts, sports and cultural and social activities.

“This year there is €3.5 million available nationally and hopefully we can see local groups in Donegal make successful applications once again,” he said.

The goal of the Disability Participation and Awareness Fund 2024 is to support innovative projects or organisations across Ireland.

The Fund offers a package of cash grants and non-financial supports to the value of €200,000 for up to 10 projects, to help them expand and increase their social impact.

Applications will close on April 5, 2024.
