Appeal following spate of car incidents in Letterkenny

by Louise Doyle

DASH cam footage is being sought after a car was stolen in Letterkenny and was later found in the north.

A number of other vehicles were broken into at Slieve Sneacht during an early morning spate of incidents in the town on Tuesday, October 1 between midnight and 12.30am.

Two cars were entered and items were stolen from within them. No damage was caused to the vehicles.

A car was then also stolen from the estate. The stolen car was later recovered in the north, and a number of the stolen items were recovered also.

Gardaí have made a fresh appeal to drivers in the wake of the incidents.

“We would like to remind all drivers to please ensure that their vehicle is locked at all times when unattended, regardless of whether it is parked in their driveway or in a public place. Do not keep cash or valuables in your vehicle.”

Anyone who was in the Slieve Sneacht area at the time in question and who observed anything suspicious is asked to contact gardaí in Letterkenny on (074) 9167100. The Garda Confidential line may be reached on 1800 666 111.

“If anybody was in the area around that time with a dash cam, we ask them to make the footage available to Gardaí.”
