Forensics at the scene of a shooting in the St Johnston area on Tuesday night.

THE 39-year-old man who was shot four times in a punishment style attack in St Johnston on Tuesday night has been transferred to a hospital in Dublin.
Gardai are investigating the circumstances of a shooting incident at Legnatraw, St. Johnston, which occurred between 10pm and 10.30pm. Two armed and masked men entered the house and shot the Derry man in his arms and legs.
He was taken by ambulance to Lettekenny General Hospital where his condition was later described as ‘’not life threatening’.
A 34-year-old woman who was in the house at the time of the shooting was not injured. The scene was preserved for a technical examination.
While gardai are not commenting on a possible motive there is speculation the shooting may have been carried out by the Republican Action group- RAAD.
A silver 4×4 was located at Moness, a townsland approximately one mile from the scene of the shooting shortly after the incident. The 4×4 has been preserved for technical examination.
Gardai in Letterkenny are appealing to any witnesses or anyone who may have information or may have seen unusual activity (between 9pm and 11pm on the 1st May) around the the vicinity of Legnatraw or around Moness where the 4×4 was located to contact them in Letterkenny on 074 9167100, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
Investigating gardaí are liaising with the PSNI and the house where the attack occurred has been sealed off for forensic examination.
The latest attack follows the murder of Derry man, Andrew Allen (24) in Buncrana in February. The father of two, originally from the Waterside area of Derry, was shot by a group of three armed men.
The attack has been blamed on the Republican Action Against Drugs group.
