Anxious wait for Junior Minister McGinley

JUNIOR Minister Dinny McGinley said he had absolutely no idea if he would retain his portfolio as part of the cabinet reshuffle.

Speaking to the Donegal News Deputy McGinley, said he had no indication whatsoever about the make up of the new junior ministers.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny is due to announce his new junior ministers today (Tuesday). There is speculation Minister McGinley may be axed and his party colleague in
Donegal North East Deputy Joe McHugh promoted.

The official announcement will be made in the Dáil this afternoon but the new panel of junior ministers will be known before then.

“I’ve had no indication one way or another yet about my portfolio,” Minister McGinley said.

Deputy McGinley, has been Junior Gaeltacht Minister since March, 2011. Cavan-Monaghan TD Heather Humphreys will replace Jimmy Deenihan at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.

On Friday afternoon the Taoiseach promoted Paschal Donohoe, Alan Kelly, Jan O’Sullivan, Alex White and Heather Humphreys to the Cabinet. Enda Kenny said Phil Hogan will be appointed EU Commissioner.
