THE group behind Saturday’s protests calling for water charges to be scrapped have issued a final call to the people of Donegal to take to the streets.
The Right2Water group believe it is evident that there is huge public outcry and that the Government is under immense pressure over the establishment of Irish Water and the impact that water charges will have on the people of Ireland.
Right2Water have noted the growing movement of people who will not rest until these charges have been scrapped.
A spokesperson for the group said: “Token gestures such as the suggestion of sacking John Tierney will not dampen the fighting spirit of the people. Minister Alex White claimed that the Government is listening to the people – they should take heed on November 1st when over 70 protests will occur Nationwide as people call in one voice for the abolition of water charges.”
They continued: “This movement has seen an unprecedented joining of many diverse groups with different political affiliations, and indeed, those who have none – all uniting in opposition to the controversial water charges.
Donegal Right2Water has called on “all citizens of our County who share this sentiment to come together at the march”.
“This is a peaceful and respectful protest in a show of unity and solidarity where different opinions and perspectives are put aside in order to focus on one issue……..Water is a Human Right……..Scrap the Charges!”
The Letterkenny protest will take place on Saturday, November 1st at 2pm, assembling at Mr Chippy, Station Roundabout.
