‘Anti-immigration’ candidate emerges in Castlefinn

A Castlefinn man has entered the General Election race on a “pro-Christian, anti-immigration” ticket.

Niall McConnell, a farmer from the Finn Valley, confirmed to the Donegal News this morning that he will seek election on February 8.

“You may not have heard of me, but I do run one of Ireland’s biggest YouTube channels and will be seeking election on anti-immigration/plantation and pro-Christian platform,” Mr McConnell said.

“For too long our people have been left behind by our cosmopolitan elite; rural folk like me and my family have little to no say in the political arena.

“After much encouragement, I have decided to run and offer the people of Donegal real representation in Dáil Éireann.

“I am an open Catholic and honest about who I am and what I believe but I enjoy very good relations with my Protestant neighbours; I do not mince my words. I believe in an Irish Ireland, an Ireland firmly based on Christian teaching.”

In a separate delevopment, Kilmacrennan’s John O’Donnell has confirmed he will stand as a candidate in the General Election. Mr O’Donnell announced his intention on social media late last night.
