Another award for Rónán

He was presented with the award for the second year in a row at the Oireachtas Media Awards, Gradaim Chumarsáide an Oireachtais, held in the Meyrick Hotel in Galway.

Rónán Mac Aodha Bhuí is from Cois Cláidí in Gaoth Dobhair and presents Rónán Beo @ 3 Tues-Fri on
RTÉ RnaG from 3-5 p.m.

The programme includes a mix of music, chat and interviews. There are also several regular features on the show including a look at the main stories making the news, nutritionist Aoife Kirwan offers her advice on healthy eating, cook Brian Danny Minnie has a new recipe for listeners every week, the
knowledgeable Micí Mac Aoidh from Inis Bofin is in studio every Tuesday to answer listeners queries about the origins of words and sayings in Irish, and he is joined by his knowledgeable friends Máire Feiritéar in Galway and Toose Mac Gearailt in Kerry.

Rónán’s own style of presenting is an essential part of the winning formula for the programme – an ability to deal sensitively with subjects when necessary, a great sense of fun, a genuine curiosity and interest, and a touch madness.

Of course, Rónán has a strong team behind him. Dónall Mac Ruairí is the programme producer who directs from behind the scenes, and Emer Ní Fhearraigh is programme secretary, and together the team has created the award-winning show.

Earlier this year Rónán won the international prize for Radio Personality at the Celtic Media Festival which took place in Scotland.

The Gradaim Chumarsáide an Oireachtais awards celebrate the TV and Radio presenters, actors, journalists and programme makers who have excelled in their contribution to the Irish-language media sector in the past year.

The awards ceremony was presented by Maura Derrane, and Minister of State at the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs Dinny McGinley presented the awards to the winners.
