Angry locals near Gaoth Dobhair vow to fight plans to extend quarry

IRATE locals strongly objecting to a major stone quarry extension in Gweedore have warned that they will fight the plans ‘tooth and nail’.

Residents in the Meenderrgamph area claim their grazing and turbary rights have already been infringed by the quarry.

Mr Owen Gillespie, owner of Gillespie Ready Mix, Crolly, who runs Gillespie Quarries, a family business that has been operating for over 30 years has lodged plans with Donegal County Council for the continuation and extension of the existing quarry at Meenderrygamh for a period of 20 years.
