AN event is to take place in Anagaire this weekend to celebrate the launch of a newly recorded version of ‘Ag Siúl Cois na Trá’ written and composed by the renowned Donegal musician Pádraig Ó Domhnaill.
A famous version of the song was previously recorded by Clannad under the title ‘Thíos Cois na Trá’ but this new rendition by local artists celebrates his enduring influence on Irish music, language and culture.
The evening will also include a short documentary on Pádraig Ó Domhnaill’s life and work, highlighting his pioneering role in establishing school marching bands in Donegal.
These bands gave children a platform to develop musical skills from a young age, inspiring generations of musicians and raising the standard of fife and flute music in the county.
Pleanáil Teanga na Rosann has been working on this project for some time and is delighted to showcase and celebrate Irish culture, heritage, and the Irish language in the Rosses through this event.
The local community is invited to the launch of ‘Sé do Bheatha’ at Caisleán Óir Hotel, Anagaire, on Saturday, February 7 at 7pm.
Guests can enjoy top-class live music, a delicious meal, special guestsand lovely prizes, with proceeds supporting local Dementia Cafés.
Tickets (€15) are available from CDP na Rosann and Caisleán Óir Hotel, Anagaire.
Sé do Bheatha promises a unique celebration of Donegal’s music, culture, Irish language and heritage, honouring a true local pioneer whose legacy continues to resonate today.
