An Grianán Theatre enters exciting renovation phase

AN Grianán Theatre in Letterkenny, a cornerstone of Donegal’s performing arts scene, say the ongoing auditorium renovation project is progressing well.

The beloved venue is currently in the midst of a transformative phase, with all seating removed and preparations underway for the installation of brand new carpeting.

This renovation marks a significant step forward in the theatre’s long-term vision to enhance audience comfort and improve the overall theatrical experience.

“We’re incredibly excited to see the auditorium take shape,” said Richie Crawford, Business Development Manager at An Grianán Theatre.

“Removing the seats has revealed the true scale of the space, and with new carpeting just around the corner, we’re closer than ever to welcoming patrons back to a refreshed and revitalised venue with the first performance taking place on September 5 with the 3 Hail Mary’s.”

The full renovation includes upgraded seating, improved lighting, and modernised flooring, all aimed at ensuring the theatre remains a vibrant cultural hub for years to come.

While the auditorium is temporarily closed, other theatre operations, including The Coffee House, workshops, rehearsals, and community events, continue as planned.

The project is made possible thanks to generous support from our sponsors and the Community Recognition Fund.

Updates on the renovation process will be shared regularly via the theatre’s social media channels.

The team looks forward to unveiling the new space and resuming performances in a reimagined setting.
