An Grianán announces spring schedule

AN GRIANAN Theatre, Letterkenny, is pleased to announce its 2013 spring schedule, packed full of drama and entertainment for the young and old alike.

The theatre’s packed schedule includes performances by critically acclaimed musical artists and national theatre productions.
The local groups are also out in force with the Letterkenny Music and Drama Group, The Letterkenny Pantomime Society and the Letterkenny Musical Society all expecting packed houses once again.

The theatre kicks 2013 off with a big band bang as Ronan Collins brings Reelin’ in the Showband Years to Letterkenny on Thursday, January 10.
The music continues on Tuesday the 15th of January with The Kings and Queens of the Grand Ole Opry, a vivid celebration of all that’s great about Country and Western, so come on down if you feel a little bit country.
On Saturday, February 9, a classic Opera comes to the theatre in the shape of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte, a tale of lovers’ intrigue and deceit that is both an excellent starting point for novices and a welcome romp for aficionados.
The Ultimate Eagles will be bringing their meticulously faithful homage to the Eagles to our stage on the February 12.
This show, which re-energises the classic 70s-era songs of the Eagles, is not to be missed. Isla Grant will make a highly anticipated return to Ireland on February 17.
Having completed successful tours of the UK, New Zealand and Australia, this is a fantastic chance to see this “Scottish Lass” in an intimate setting.

We’ll be rounding January off with Brian Friel’s The Freedom of the City which will be performed from the January 31 to February 2.
This show is part of An Grianán Theatre’s Peace III funded Customs’ Crossings series and as such admission will be free of charge.
It will also be part of the Derry/Londonderry City of Culture 2013 programme.

The hugely popular Calendar Girls from the LMDG returns to An Grianán for another run from February 21 to 23.

A sold out run in November was met with great acclaim and the tickets are expected to sell out again, and fast.

The theatre finishes February up with Calamity Jane from the LMS, a wild west story with belly laughs, sing-along tunes and big, big characters.
The show will run from the Februay 26 to March 3, so come along and see the Letterkenny Musical Society perform this riotous stage adaptation of the 60’s film classic.

As well as these shows, our regular feature Crash Cabaret will run on the February 8 and March 8.

The cabaret is a home for the offbeat and the unique and an opportunity to see artists and performers who tread a less well-travelled path.

As you can see, we have an absolutely packed schedule and we hope to see you many times during the spring programme.

Tickets are also on sale for the exciting Druid Theatre Production of the two Tom Murphy plays Conversations on a Homecoming and A Whistle in the Dark which take place at the end of May and for the critically acclaimed Josh Ritter, who will be performing in late July.
