To celebrate 25 years of An Gailearaí, the gallery is inviting the community to contribute wedding attire for a special exhibition.
An Gailearaí has been a vital part of the Gaeltacht community since 1999, growing from its beginnings above a bank in Falcarragh to its current home in the Aislann Centre, Gaoth Dobhair.
Supported by the local community, Donegal County Council, and Ealaín na Gaeltachta, the gallery has hosted nearly 130 exhibitions and numerous community projects.
In 2003, An Gailearaí successfully showcased “An Bhainis – The Wedding,” an installation featuring wedding dresses from locals.
This year, as part of the 25th-anniversary celebrations, the gallery seeks to create an even more diverse exhibition. To reflect the cultural changes in the community, An Gailearaí invites contributions of wedding attire from all backgrounds.
Whether it’s a traditional dress, a suit from a same-sex wedding, or an outfit from a different cultural tradition, your contribution will help create a vibrant celebration of love in all its forms.
Wedding attire can be dropped off at An Gailearaí in Gaoth Dobhair on Tuesday, 3rd September and Thursday, 5th September from 11 am to 5 pm, or on Wednesday, 4th September from 1 pm to 8 pm.
Another drop-off point is available at The Inter-Cultural Platform Centre on St. Oliver Plunkett Road on Friday, 5th September between 12 pm and 4 pm.
For further details, you can contact An Gailearaí at 0874883771 or Donegal Intercultural Platform at 0749116075.
