Almost 350 people attended Letterkenny University Hospital over the Bank Holiday weekend.
In response to a query from the Donegal News, a HSE spokesperson confirmed 347 people presented at the hospital’s emergency department over the weekend.
The highest number of attendances was on Saturday, March 18, when 126 people presented at the ED. A total of 111 people attended the ED on St Patrick’s Day, while 110 people attended the ED on Sunday, March 19.
Twenty-six patients are on trolleys this morning. A Saolta spokesperson has urged people to consider other options for non-emergency care.
“Letterkenny University Hospital saw a high number of attendances at the Emergency Department throughout the St Patrick’s Day bank holiday weekend.
“We continue to request that people consider other options for non-emergency care such as Out of Hours GP and pharmacies before attending an ED. As always, people who do require emergency care are encouraged to attend EDs where they will be prioritised.”
