THE Aurivo Killygordon charity 5k run and walk in aid of Pieta House is being held tomorrow evening.
Pieta House, who plan to open a suicide and self-harm crisis centre in Donegal, is Aurivo’s Charity of the Year for 2015.
The annual event has become firmly established on Aurivo’s (formerly Donegal Creameries) fund-raising calendar, having raised over €20,000 in the past three years.
In 2014, €40,000 was divided by the co-op among the four hospices within its region including Donegal Hospice, North West Hospice, Mayo/Roscommon Hospice and Galway.
Pieta House operates a number of centres for the prevention of suicide and self-harm around the country. As part of its strategic development plan, their vision is to have a centre within 100km of every person in Ireland. Soon Donegal will have a much needed Pieta House resource to help those people who are in suicidal distress. The charity provides specialist care providing everything free-of-charge and their staff are fully qualified and provide a professional one-to-one therapeutic service.
Tomorrow’s event commences at 7.30 pm and is registered with the Athletics Association of Ireland.
There is an entry fee of just €6, which includes entry into a prize draw as well as refreshments.
Participants can register on the day in Aurivo Consumer Foods, Crossroads, Killygordon.
