Preparations are well underway for the various New Year’s Day swims which are planned all across Donegal this coming Wednesday.
Once again, large numbers of people will be raising some much needed funds for local charities by starting the new year off with a chilly dip in our icy waters.
It’s always great fun – and the best part is the cuppa and refreshments which always warm the participants up after their swim.
One of the most popular swims each year is held at Marble Hill beach organised by Doe Amateur Swimming Club.
Their swim on Wednesday will be in aid of Parkinson’s North West branch and pre-registration is now open on the club’s Facebook page.
The swim starts at 2pm and participants are asked to come in good time to get parked, signed in and ready to run into the water.
A one-way system will be in place from 11.30am to 3pm at Marble Hill road out at Breaghy.
Everyone is welcome to come and support the swimmers and the charity.
There are swims planned all around the county including Rathmullan, Culdaff, Muckross, Mountcharles and Gaoth Dobhair to name just a few.
