THE targeting of a Letterkenny business by online card fraudsters has prompted an appeal for traders to be vigilant.

The business was targeted by criminals using a fraudulent card and the orders were shipped to a Nottingham address in England under the name Jane Anders.

Details of the business have not been released or the amount involved.

However, it has led to a call for business owners to be careful.

Speaking to the Donegal News, Ms Toni Forrester, CEO of Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce said banks had confirmed Donegal online businesses were being targeted and traders needed to be extremely careful.

“The loss of stock is costly to businesses and they need to be vigilant,” she said.
“Scams like this are even more prevalent in the run up to Christmas and we’re appealing to business owners and their staff to be extra careful,” she said.
