CLG Na Dunaibh held their adult awards night last weekend at the Singing Pub.
This year the Downings club were proud to introduce a new award, the Gradam Cuimhneacháin Mairead Uí Chonaill, in memory of Mairead who was a wonderful supporter of the ladies team and someone who took great pride in seeing players develop, improve and grow in confidence.
Mairead strongly believed in encouragement and in giving players the support they needed to reach their potential. Her kindness, generosity and belief in the team left a lasting mark on our club and through this award her legacy will continue to inspire players for many years to come.
The award will be presented each year to the ladies player who has shown the greatest improvement over the season. It was especially meaningful that the very first recipient of this award was someone very close to Mairead’s heart, her daughter Aine.
