Active Travel projects in Letterkenny to be opposed

A LOCAL councillor believes that now is not the time to proceed with a number of Active Travel projects in Letterkenny as the town is choking with traffic congestion.

The topic is expected to generate some lively debate at today’s meeting of Donegal County Council in Lifford, where councillors will be asked to give the green light for major works – which would primarily see the installation of dedicated cycle lanes and new footpaths – on the Circular Road and also on the Ballyraine Road in the town.

However, Cllr. Ciaran Brogan has stated that he will be opposing the plans as they currently stand.

“The single biggest issue at the moment in Letterkenny is the amount of traffic congestion in the town and the need for proper traffic management,” he told the Donegal News.
