Run by the acclaimed Butt Drama Circle, the workshop will be facilitated by local actor and director, JC Bonar.

JC has honed his skills as an actor and director on the Balor stage and graduated from the Arts College in Derry.

It is open to beginners, and those who have not acted in a long time, and will cover all the basics through various games, exercises and improvisations. The main focus, however, is on developing confidence, getting comfortable performing in front of others, learning how to create characters and settings and, most importantly, having fun.

The Butt Drama chairman, Eddie Flanagan, is presently seeking a comedy script for a large cast and will begin rehearsals after the six week course is completed, with a view to including as many of the new people as possible.

Costing just €40, registration and payment must be made in advance.

The Drama Circle celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2009, having started out in the old Butt Hall, in 1959. Over the years, it has evolved and is now much more than just an amateur drama club.

If you want to take part in the workshop, or find out more information, contact the Balor on 074 91 31840 or log on to the Butt Drama Circle page on Facebook.
