FOLLOWING last year’s huge success, another acting workshop for adult beginners and improvers will commence next week at the Balor Arts Centre.
Starting on Monday, February 15, it will run for six weeks at a cost of just €40 per entrant.
Run by the acclaimed Butt Drama Circle (BDC), the workshop will be facilitated by experienced actor and director, Susan Doherty.
Susan honed her skills on the Balor stage and has directed many plays there over the years.
It is open to beginners, and those who have not acted in a long time, and will cover all the basics through various games, exercises and improvisations.
The main focus, however, is on developing confidence, getting comfortable performing in front of others, learning how to create characters and settings and, most importantly, having fun.
Ms Doherty is presently seeking a comedy script for a large cast and will begin rehearsals after the six week course is completed, with a view to including as many of the new people as possible. Those who took part in last year’s workshop and play are welcome to join.
Costing just €40, registration and payment must be made in advance.
The Drama Circle celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2009, having started out in the old Butt Hall, in 1959. Over the years, it has evolved and is now much more than just an amateur drama club.
