ABC Childcare go hair crazy in aid of Kevin Bell Trust

THE Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust is €14,000 to the good thanks to the colourful efforts of the ABC Childcare Centre in Lifford.

Nine local groups got involved in the crazy hairstyle day, all in aid of an organisation that helps repatriate Irish people who pass away overseas.

Manager of ABC Childcare Centre, Cathryn Lynch, works with Marie Duffy whose husband Martin sadly lost his life in a drowning accident in Greece in August.

Marie and her three children were so grateful for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust’s help in getting Martin home that they wanted to do something to show their appreciation.

Cathryn Lynch said it was wonderful to see the whole community getting behind the fun occasion and making it such an enjoyable event.

“We eventually got organised to have a crazy hair day and were thrilled when nine local groups got involved. In the end up we had more than 450 families taking part on the day. Each took a sponsorship sheet and everyone worked so hard. We never imagined that we would raise over €14,500.”

“The children came in with crazy hair styles and we had a lot of fun. The groups which helped to make it such a success were Murlog NS, Ballylast NS, Cloughfin NS, Busy Bee’s Playschool, CPI Community Childcare, Rosie and Jim’s Playschool, St Safan’s NS and Lifford NS.

“Thank you all,” added Cathryn.

“It created a lovely memory as well as helping to raise funds to help others.”

Marie is hoping to organise a climb of Errigal later in the year and then, having gathered together all of the money raised, make a presentation to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
