The Abbey Vocational School sealed their place in the semi-finals of the MacRory Cup for a second successive year courtesy of a six-point win over St Mary’s Grammar School, Magherafelt in Convoy on Friday.
The Magherafelt side led by three points at the break however, a major from Thomas Lenehan five minutes after the restart drew them level.
The Donegal Town school grew in confidence from here and further scores through Lewis McCaughan (two two-pointers). Thomas Lenehan, Conor McCahill and Cian Gavigan left them seven to the good entering the closing stages.
The Derry men converted a late penalty courtesy of Shea McCann however, Thomas Lenehan responded with a superb two-pointer to seal the Donegal side’s passage to the last four.
