Abbey Vocational School created history as they won the Paddy Drummond Cup with a nine point win over Ashbourne in St. Tiernach’s Park, Clones.
The Stuart McFadden and Jamie Brennan managed side led by 0-10 to 0-3 at the break and were in control, but Ashbourne had a purple patch at the beginning of the second half and closed the gap to three points.
The Meath school’s captain Evan O’Kane was shown a black card with five minutes remaining and the Abbey kicked on, with Conor McCahill’s goal on 60 minutes confirming the win.
McCahill hit 1-2 but Conor Meehan top scored with 0-6, while Aaron McGroary (2), Kevin Muldoon (2), Turlough Carr, Seanan Carr and Daniel McIntyre also pointed for the victors.
