Maggie’s Tavern in St. Johnston will be buzzing with celebration this May Bank Holiday weekend as Alice Lynch marks an incredible milestone — 30 years at the helm of one of Donegal’s most loved venues.

Running from May 2 to 4, the weekend promises a packed schedule of live music, free food, family activities, and a charity walk — with something for everyone to enjoy.

The celebrations will feature performances by some of the biggest names in Irish country music, including Gary Gamble, Olivia Douglas, Martin Cuffe, and Country Harmony, with a special opening dance performance by the Step by Step Dancers.

Beyond the entertainment, the weekend reflects Alice’s deep roots in the community.

Over the past three decades, Alice has grown Maggie’s from a small local bar into a community venue with a lounge, private function room, and a newly opened beer garden. Maggies Tavern has been a great hub for charities over the years; raising over €125,000 for Little Angels though the famous Donegal Cycles.

The Pig on the Spit BBQ’s which ran for 10 years also supported many charities.

Alice continues to champion local women’s sports teams and supporting women in business through her involvement in organisations such as Donegal Women in Business Network, Local Enterprise Office, Donegal ETB and the Vintners Federation. Speaking ahead of the event, Alice said: “Maggie’s has always been about community.”

“It’s been an honour to run this business, to support local teams and causes, and to be part of people’s special moments over the years. We can’t wait to welcome everyone for a weekend of celebration and memories.”

The full weekend schedule is available on the Maggie’s Tavern Facebook page, and everyone is warmly invited to come along, enjoy the festivities, and raise a glass to 30 incredible years.
