THE festive spirit was high in Convoy last Saturday when over fifty local men and women attended the Seniors Christmas Party in Brindley Manor.
Those in attendance were treated to a four course Christmas meal and entertainment from Johnny Haughey and Fergus Cleary.
This is the first time they have come together as a large group since before Covid so it was an extra special occasion.
It was organised by Convoy Community Environmental Committee with Chairman Liam Mailey helping to coordinate.
This event has been running now for over fifty years having been started by Fergus Cleary and Sammy Wallace, to name a few, as a party for the Senior Citizens from the Convoy area.
“The committee are indebted to many local businesses and organisations for making this event a success,” said Jo Cotter, from the Convoy Community Environmental Committe.
“Thank you to Brindley Manor and Liam Deeney for hosting this event again this year. Social Inclusion and Community Activation Project SICAP contributed also to the overall event and local businesses sponsored the many prizes and gifts on the day.
“Jayne Long and the hard working ladies from the Covenanters Church provided tasty homemade baked treat boxes for everyone who also attended. The local St Vincent de Paul and Churches also supported this annual community event.”
