Racing resumed at Carrickadawson on Sunday and it was a day to cherish and live long in the memory for Fintown jockey Tiernan Mc Gill who got his first ever winner aboard Swilly Spirit.
It was a beautiful afternoon as the ponies headed to the starting point to face the starter but the heavens opened for five minutes in driving rain but it didn’t stop Tiernan making all on his own pony, Swilly Spirit, for a winner that is the start of hopefully many more to come for the 10-year-old.
Ballyare riders Patrick McGettigan and Jamie Orr both hit the cross bar with three 2nd places between them but plenty of good days await for these two up and coming riders.
Racing moves to Roscommon this coming Sunday with a 1pm start.
