A-Ceart’s road safety poster initiative visits Loughanure school

A PRIZE presentation was held last week in Scoil Eoin Pol, Loch an Iuir to recognise the efforts of the school children in promoting road safety through A-Ceart’s poster initiative.

Representatives from the emergency services, Mayor Frank McBrearty, Cllr David Alcorn, Eugene Greene of Coiste Mionthograi Loch an Iuir were among the invited guests. Special guest was All-Ireland player Eamon McGee who brought along the Sam Maguire cup.

The prize winners were; Trophy winners Kevin McGarvey and Bernadette Sweeney (6th class), Medal winners, 1st Jamie Mac Phaidin (5th class), 2nd Conor Walsh (3rd class), 3rd Ciara Greene (4th class), 4th Breid Marie Ni Bheirne (6th class), 5th Shane Boyle (6th class).

A-Ceart founder Mary Clinton paid tribute to the children and staff at the school for getting involved in the initiative and to the emergency services and public representative for giving of their time on the day.

She said the children put in a huge effort getting the road safety message across in the posters and she is hopeful with available funding that the winning exhibits can be turned into posters and circulated throughout the county and beyond.
