Having just celebrated his 40th birthday, Tommy will be celebrating 20 years in the business in 2012, but of course he started singing in pubs and clubs at a much younger age.
He said: “It’s going to mark 20 years since the release of my first studio release, Loving Hannah (1991) to the present day.
“I think, looking back now, I had this romantic idea back then that I’d be doing a lot less by the time I was 40 and not ‘swanning around’, but it’s complete the opposite,” he laughed.
Following the dates in China in December and an Irish tour in January and February, Tommy will be embarking on tours of Australia and North America.
‘We’ll be doing an awful lot of touring in 2012 so I know for sure that I will be taking a break from it all the following year,” said Tommy.
Tommy has enjoyed a very successful 20 years in the industry and overcome some great obstacles on his way, including a horrific car accident.
But since the his career went from strength to strength and he ended up marrying the woman who rescued him, Tina.
“I was very young when I started in the business, but looking back now I don’t think I would want to change a thing as it all made me the man I am today.
“I’m a very different man now with a very different outlook and approach to life. We all change and grow with the times and I still haven’t stopped learning.”
