A Big Day Out for the family – and it’s free

EVERY year, the Earagail Arts Festival (July 7 to 22) tries to provide as much free entertainment for the whole family to enjoy – and this year is no different.

For its 24th annual festival, Earagail Arts would like to invite you and your whole family to the Big Day Out at Rockhill House on the opening weekend, Sunday, July 8.

Festival Director, Paul Brown said: “Over the past few years our free family day has taken place in Letterkenny Town Park, but this year we are moving to a brand new location, the beautiful grounds of Rockhill House.

“Just on the outskirts of Letterkenny, the old army barracks grounds are ideal for the many outdoor events we have on offer, including the Big Day Out, which will have lots of street and circus entertainment, Architects of Air’s Luminarium and much more.”

In addition to the hugely popular vintage games the children can enjoy free outdoor circus, comedy and magic performances – complemented by walkabout puppetry from the national award winning Bui Bolg.

While the kids enjoy all the great entertainment provided adults can enjoy the Global Village Fete hosted by the festival complete with crafts, vintage clothes and farmer’s market and a fantastic Asian food and culture festival.

There will also be traditional, folk, classical and contemporary music performances in the vintage marquee which will provide the soundtrack for a beautiful day out for the whole family.

If you are coming from Letterkenny all you have to do is follow signs to Oldtown and follow the New Mills Road to Rockhill. Coming from the Glenties direction, turn off R250 road to Letterkenny at New Mills Flax Mill and follow signs to Rockhill.

Please note traffic and parking restrictions will be in place on the New Mills Road in both directions or feel free to use the return shuttle bus service from Letterkenny – every half hour from 12 noon. Pick-up and drop off opposite Station House Hotel.
