COMMERICAL property joint agents BDM Property and TDL Horizons have confirmed the sale of the well-known McGrory’s Hotel, Culdaff, in Donegal.
The village of Culdaff is located only 15 minutes’ drive south of Malin Head (Ireland’s most northernly point) in an area of outstanding natural beauty and steeped in history.
McGrory’s Hotel sits just 45 minutes’ drive from Derry, two hours from Belfast and within a three-hour drive from Dublin Airport.
In early 2024, the hotel underwent an extensive refurbishment programme, including room upgrades and the installation of new catering kitchen and bar equipment.
McGrory’s Hotel has been a family-owned establishment for over four generations and in 2024 celebrated its centenary year.
The hotel has been acquired by Carndonagh born businessman Paddy Doherty and the recently formed Doherty Hospitality Group. The hotel was brought to the market following its closure in February 2025, on behalf of the third and fourth generation of the McGrory family connection by joint agents BDM Property and Donegal based TDL Horizons with a guide price of excess €1.0m.
John Ryan of BDM Property commented that the sale of McGrory’s Hotel was a “significant vote of confidence in the domestic tourism market” and the speed of sale highlights the level of demand for key hospitality businesses with track record along the Wild Atlantic Way.
Joint agent Niamh Walsh, TDL Horizons, added that from a local Donegal perspective the sale of this historic and unique hotel is a real boost for the community especially as the hotel will take on its next chapter in the hands of a local Inishowen person, Paddy Doherty.
