THE Management of St Mary’s National School in Stranorlar are set to launch a major lobbying campaign to ensure they receive funding for a new school.
This week Donegal County Council granted planning permission for the construction of a new 24-classroom school on a new site at Mill Brae in Stranorlar.
And while the decision to grant permission has been very much welcomed the concern now is to ensure that funding can be found to bring the project to fruition.
Speaking to the Donegal News, the school’s Principal, Mr Fintan Keating, said he was delighted that planing permission had been received.
“We were delighted to get the news, having planning permission now means that we have half the battle won. The new school is something which is very much needed as the current school is overcrowded and not suitable for the needs of modern education.
