THERE are 3,956 Ukrainian refugees in County Donegal, the second highest number in the country after Kerry.
New figures, given to the Irish Independent by the Department of Integration, show that Kerry is hosting the largest number of Ukrainians, 6,195. Next is Donegal with 3,956.
The figures don’t include Ukrainians in Donegal who may have been given accommodation privately or those who may be renting privately.
Despite claims by some of an uneven distribution of migrant arrivals, the government insists it’s dealing with the issue on a national basis and not county by county.
“Kerry has taken four times per capita the national average of Ukrainians, and Donegal two-and-a-half times,” Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín told the Irish Independent.
