300 tonnes of salt and grit used in 24 hours

DONEGAL County Council gritting crews have treated over 1,000km of road network across the county and have applied approximately 300 tonnes of salt and grit in the last 24 hours.

A Spokesperson for the Council said they can confirm that all main roads in the county are passable and they will continue to monitor conditions as they emerge over the coming days. Met Eireann has issued a yellow weather alert for Donegal and is forecasting scattered heavy snow showers today, tonight and tomorrow.

Sand and grit heaps are available at various locations around the county for use by local residents and communities and further details are available on the Winter Gritting Map at https://goo.gl/ybmuPh .
