Organisers have confirmed that the 45th running of the event, which takes place from June 19-21, will have a competitive distance of over 300km. Some of the Donegal classics have been ‘revised’ and competitors can expect a frantic three days of action around the Donegal tarmac. Again, an epic weekend is in store in what is the only three-day rally remaining on the Irish Tarmac Rally calendar – an event that is expected to draw in the region of 70,000 spectators to the county.

“There will be a sense of adventure and we might even see the return of some tactical driving – mind you, going on past experience, the chances of that are slim,” McGee said.

“I can report that the regulations are done, just awaiting a return from Motorsport Ireland and should be available in the next few days. The event website is currently been updated with accommodation and information that everyone needs for the event, so keep an eye on it over the next few weeks.

“As ever, we are looking forward to a safe weekend for our competitors and also for all the visitors to the County. This year in particular we are asking rally supporters attending the JOULE Donegal International Rally to join with Donegal Motor Club’s campaign, in conjunction with the Road Safety Authority, to ‘Keep the Race in its Place’

“We are working hard to ensure the JOULE Donegal International Rally 2015 echoes the sense of adventure and fun started by the first rally back in 1971.”

The 2015 Joule Donegal International Rally gets underway on Friday, June 19, from An Grianan Theatre and will finish at the Rally’s ancestral home, The Mount Errigal, on Sunday, June 21. Letterkenny IT will again act as Parc Ferme each evening and early indications are that accommodation is filling fast around the county.

Marshals who wish to help out at this year’s event, to contact the Chief Marshal, Tony Boyle. Marshals can register online, or contact Tony directly at 0871097595.
