AROUND 200 people attended a two-day public consultation on the Barnesmore Gap Greenway project.
Drop-in events were held in Ballybofey and Donegal Town where the public was invited to provide their feedback.
The project is currently in the initial concept and feasibility stage and a consultation period is running until Friday, March 10.
Welcoming the progress on the greenway Cllr Patrick McGowan said: “I am delighted with progress so far and the professionalism the Greenway team has brought to this process. The time is right and I believe we are pushing an open door to get the appropriate support nationally if we can get agreement locally and work together to build a project that could be a national attraction.
“It is hoped that a route can be selected by the end of the year all going well which will mean further public consultation later this summer.”
Cllr McGowan said it is important to say at this stage no decision has been made regarding routes and urged anyone who has any questions to contact Brian Reid, senior executive engineer and the Greenway team.
