2.5 magnitude earthquake detected in Donegal

A 2.5 magnitude earthquake was detected in Donegal during the early hours of this morning, officials from the Irish National Seismic Network (INSN) have confirmed.

The INSN, which is operated by the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS), said the tremor was detected 5km below ground near Glenveagh National Park, at approximately 1.30am.

The INSN says it has received reports that the event was felt throughout the Donegal area and was recorded by seismic stations across the country.
