Susan Hamilton to be laid to rest on Friday

DONEGAL’S latest road victim, Susan Hamilton, will be laid to rest on Friday.

Ms Hamilton (74), from Manorcunningham, tragically lost her life when the car she was driving collided with a van on the R245 at Bunlin Bridge, Milford last Friday.

Her body was removed to Letterkenny University Hospital where a post-mortem examination took place yesterday.

The male driver of the van, aged in his 50s, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Ms Hamilton is the seventh person to die on Donegal’s roads since the beginning of the year.

Her remains will be reposing at her daughter Amanda’s home in Rossbracken, Letterkenny, F92HR2K, today, from 11am to 10pm where everyone is welcome to pay their respects.

The house is strictly private from 10pm to 11am each night and on the morning of the funeral.

Removal on Friday morning, June 6 at 9.45am to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Inch Island for requiem Mass at 11am followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Since her sad passing, the mother of four has been remembered by many as a “lovely lady”.

Ms Hamilton is predeceased by her husband Joseph, brother James and her parents James and Jeannie.

She will be forever missed by her loving daughters Joanne (Mickey), Amanda (Gerard), Rachel (Kevin), Lisa (Stephen) and her ten grandchildren Kayla, Joseph, Jack, Jessica, Ciara, Leighton, Jamie, Eoghan, Lily and Michael.

Meanwhile, gardaí have once again appealed for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 7.15pm and 7.45pm on that date are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí,” a garda spokesperson said.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milford Garda Station on (074) 9153060, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
