Donegal ladies face Kildare in relegation semi-final

Donegal ladies will face Kildare in a relegation semi-final as they look to retain their status in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship.

John McNulty’s side began Group 2 with a good draw against back-to-back All-Ireland finalists Kerry in MacCumhaill Park but had to go to Waterford yesterday and get a result in order to make the quarter-finals.

The side were beaten 1-10 to 0-7 by the Déise and finished bottom of the group as a result, forcing them into the relegation play-offs.

And it’s last year’s Intermediate champions and Division 2 winners Kildare that they will take on at Breffni Park on Saturday, July 6, with the time of the game to be confirmed next Monday, July 1.

Donegal and Kildare met earlier this year in Division 2, with the Lilywhites coming away 1-8 to 1-4 winners.

Kildare had a tough time on their return to the Senior Championship, taking a 2-15 to 0-5 loss against Connacht runners-up Mayo in Ballina before a 4-19 to 0-9 loss to Dublin at the weekend.
