A SPECIAL service to remember all those who passed away while under Hospice care will be held this weekend for the first time since 2020.

All family and friends of those people who passed away while under Hospice care are invited to attend the service to remember their loved ones.

Meanwhile, Donegal Hospice’s fundraising events are continuing throughout the month of June.

The Jive for June fundraiser is ongoing with hundreds of people putting on their dancing shoes on to raise funds for the Hospice.

With just short of €180,000 raised over the last two years, the hope is that the 2023 charity fundraiser will be another big success.

The hospice is also currently running a charity raffle draw where the main prize is a fabulous Ford Pop ‘Sit up and Beg’ vintage car.

The car was kindly donated by John Sheridan from Rathmullan before he passed away while under the care of the hospice last year.

The car draw will be held at The Donegal Hospice Dine and Dance event which takes place in Letterkenny’s Mount Errigal Hotel on Friday, June 23.

The major charity event will help celebrate 20 years since the opening of the Donegal Hospice in Letterkenny and promises to be a fabulous night of fun and entertainment.

The hospice facility was opened here in February 2003 and this year marks its 20th anniversary.

Music at the event will be provided by the Magic Pandas – formerly the Kopy Kats.

Sean Deehan and his fellow band members will be performing on the night free of charge as a tribute to former band member John Doherty and local musician Dermot Donoghue – both of whom received such wonderful care from the Donegal Hospice before they died.

Tickets for the dance can be purchased from the Mount Errigal Hotel.

In the meantime, tickets for the car draw, priced at €20 or three for €50 remain on sale and the car itself has been on display at a host of car and vintage shows around the county.

Throughout June, schools, community groups, friends and individuals will once again be organising a wide range of events to coincide with Jive for June and Donegal Hospice are hoping the community gets behind the fundraising efforts.
