BONNER – Every day is important as Down game approaches

It’s been another long week in the history of Donegal GAA, but our senior team have to move on and knuckle down for the next three weeks.

It was always going to be hard to lift things after all that went on last week and we were well beaten in Dr Hyde Park.

Roscommon were keen to get a win on the board again and they were impressive on the day to be fair to them.

Donegal started well and kicked some nice scores in the first quarter but they couldn’t maintain that tempo.

The second half was very disappointing as Donegal could only score two points and they ended up losing by 12.

Aidan O’Rourke was non-committal about staying on after the match so it was encouraging to hear on Tuesday that he is going to manage the county into the championship.

It would have been very hard to get a new set-up going so hopefully Aidan and Paddy Bradley can push the team along.

I know most of the players well and they will be hurting.

They are giving huge commitment and some of them are putting their lives on hold for the green and gold jersey.

They know that they haven’t been performing to the level expected but there is still time to correct things.

There are three weeks before the championship game against Down and every day is important at this stage.
