COUNCILLORS have been confronted in Lifford this morning by families affected by the defective blocks scandal.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the County House in anger at what they perceive is a lack of action by Donegal County Council and national government.
Councillors were challenged to address this morning’s protest and there were loud boos when many chose not to.
Five campaigners, including Paddy Diver and Mica Action Group chair Lisa Hone, were given the opportunity to address the chamber.
Following further request for officials to speak to the crowd directly, Acting Chief Executive of Donegal County Council, Liam Ward, and Cathaoirleach Liam Blaney did move pass a Garda presence to address those gathered.
Using a megaphone, Mr Ward said he would provide answers to the Mica Action Group before Friday to some of the questions posed.
The crowd has now started to move off and the monthly meeting of Donegal County Council has resumed.
