Optum launches 2021 healthcare scholarship programme

Optum Healthcare Scholars 2018/19 at the Awards Ceremony in Rockhill in February 2019.

OPTUM Ireland has launched the 2021 Optum Healthcare Scholarship Programme in partnership with Letterkenny IT, Ulster University and NUI Galway.

The aim of the programme is to support the enhancement of the healthcare system in the North West region and invest in a diverse health workforce that meets the needs of tomorrow. Established in 2018, the programme is currently supporting 16 scholars who are studying a range of healthcare and innovative technology programmes in the region.

The programme is designed to promote diversity in higher education by providing support to students from less advantaged and non-traditional backgrounds who may face additional challenges. Scholars benefit from annual financial assistance, as well as other supports they may require, to complete their undergraduate studies.

Information booklets and application materials for the North-West and Regional Programs have been disseminated to all secondary schools in County Donegal. Further information on the scholarship programme is also available on the University websites.
The undergraduate program for 2021 is now open and applications will be accepted up until Friday, 28th May 2021.

Optum Ireland is also supporting graduate entry scholarships to the new school of medicine in Ulster University at Magee. For further information on the graduate entry scholarship please visit:
