The Donegal senior football team have been dealt a blow this week with news that Martin McElhinney has left the squad.
The St Michael’s clubman encountered a frustrating 2018, but impressed earlier this year during the McKenna Cup and was man-of-the-match against Down.
McElhinney came on as a sub in Donegal’s league games against Clare and Tipperary, while he started against Meath.
However, he wasn’t used in the last two fixtures with Fermanagh and Armagh.
The Cresslough man has made 104 appearances for Donegal, winning an All-Ireland medal in 2012, as well as four Ulster Senior Championship medals.
