FIVE MINUTES WITH… Lorcan O’Donnell

Age: 23

Occupation: Student/Factory Operative

Team: Ard an Rátha

If you were throwing a party and you could invite anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would you ask around?
Dan Bilzerian. He seems to have good parties. Maybe CJ Molloy too but now he’s 30 and went down on one knee he’s probably too old!

Where do you like to go out to celebrate after a big victory?
Into to Doherty’s and take it from there. Ardara is a good spot.

What’s the worst pitch you’ve ever played on?
There are a few. Dungloe, Cloughaneely and even our old pitch is bad.

Which character in any film are you most like? Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting.

Any odd items in your kit bag?
Moisturiser. Is that odd?!

Who’s the biggest joker in the team you play for?
Jimmy O’ Connell or CJ Molloy. Very funny. Very immature!

Which team mate has the best looking other half? Johnny Herron.

Who is the worst/best trainer?
Worst are Brian Whyte and Jack Brennan. Best, Joe Melly and Nicolas Maguire.

Who spends most time in front of the mirror in the dressing room?
Conor Classon has his own mirror. Cj Molloy hogs the other one.

Who’s the best/worst person to sit beside on the team bus?
Shane O’Donnell is always good to sit beside. Likes to talk about rally.

Who has the best and who has the worst diet on the team, and what does it include?
The best is John Ross Molloy. Worst is Gareth Concarr.

Toughest opponent you have faced?
Any defender who loves to go forward. I don’t fancy the run back.

Best or worst quote you’ve heard, either from a manager, player, opponent?
You’re not fit enough. I get that a lot.

Best manager you’ve ever played under?
Adrian Brennan.

Best ever performance?
Naomh Columba in the U21 championship in 2017

One to forget?
Glenfin at home in the league last year.

Sporting ambition?
To win a championship with ardara.

When you were playing in the back garden, who did you pretend to be?
Sean Cavanagh or Stephen O’Neill.

If you were in charge of transfers, who’d be in and who’d be out of the team?
I’d transfer out Oisin O’Donnell because it would free up some time for the rest of the boys to get some physio. And there would be a lot more sandwiches left after games. I’d transfer in Conor McManus to take some of the scoring load off me and to hit penalties and frees.
